This was a design in the seven dials area with a customer who was dealing with slightly empty beds and a shed that had seen better days so wanted to have a refresh. We started with a breakdown of everything in the garden and it felt like a good dose of out with the old and in with the new. We accentuated a bit more shape into the borders and reinforced them with the Core-ten steel edging so we had a strong framework with which to plant. Working with a gorgeous lollipop Pittosporum tenufolium and a very established Corkscrew Hazel, everything else came out, including a very old and very dense Jasmine officinalis, which
meant we could add less condensed height to the garden to bring in more dappled light and and variation of interest. The customer wanted a range of evergreen and deciduous perennials with a modern design feel. We added an Amelanchier lamarckii for a classic Spring floral interest, a pair of opposing Rhus typhina to allow them to sprawl up above and frame the front of the garden. Adding the small stepping stone path allowed for the connectivity between the existing patio and the new patio at the back for the new shed.
