This was project involved working with the bones of the lovely plants such as Peonies, Magnolia grandiflora, Iris sibirica and Hellebores that were already existing in the thin south facing and giving them more space to breathe and show off their forms.
By bringing out the border edge and creating the softer curved edge to mirror the curves of the existing patio it added fluidity to the garden and felt far more of a natural space. We added the grasses Sesleria autumnalis and Calamagrostis Karl Foerster along with Verbena bonariensis and Grevillea rosmarinus for added texture height and colour. This leads to more interest year roundand more structure within the bed.
We were also able to clear out a lot of the dead and old leaves from the Chamaerops humilis around the front of the property and give it some breathing space and clean up some of the cuts to allow for healthier growth in the future.
